According to various internet reports, former WCW/WWE superstar Chris Kanyon has died at the age of 40. Kanyon, whose real name is Christopher Klucsaritis, was found dead in his Queens apartment on Saturday. Many online reports like Fox News are saying it was an intentional overdose. The police are treating it like a suicide, according to the Daily News. No autopsy report has been confirmed.

It has been reported that Kanyon suffered from bipolar disorder. In 2003 he overdosed on sleeping pills and spoke about it in many interviews. He broke into the business with WCW in 1997. He remained with WCW until Vince McMahon bought the company and the contract of many stars like Kanyon. The WWE released him from his contract in 2004 as they barely used him during his final months with the company.

He made an appearance with TNA in 2005 and worked on the independent circuit. Kanyon was a good mid-card talent for both WCW and WWE winning the WCW Tag Team titles twice and then winning the WCW United States title and WWE Tag Team titles in the WWE.

Kanyon was one of the first openly gay wrestlers. Kanyon announced at an indy show in 2006 that he was fired from the WWE for being a homosexual.

TNA President Dixie Carter posted the following yesterday on Twitter: "On behalf of everyone at TNA, our deepest sympathies go out to the family of Chris Kanyon."

The WWE issued this statement: World Wrestling Entertainment would like to express its deepest condolences to Christopher Klucsaritis’ family and friends on his tragic passing. Klucsaritis was under contract with WWE from March 2001 until February 2004 and performed under the name "Chris Kanyon."

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
