Coleman scores Middle Country's winner
Shannon Coleman scored the game winner off an assist from Jessica Kravitz with 23 seconds left in the second half for Middle Country in an 11-10 win over visiting Sachem East in Division I girls lacrosse yesterday. Abigail Cavallo tied the game at 10 with just over three minutes left for Middle Country (2-2). Coleman finished with four goals and one assist, and Jenna Agostino added three goals. Katie Trombetta led Sachem East (2-2) with four goals.
Smithtown West 16, Smithtown East 15: Kelly Barbarite, who finished with three goals and three assists, scored the winner with 34 seconds left in the second half for Smithtown West (3-1). Nikki Heldberg had six goals and two assists and Kirsten Viscount added five goals and an assist for West, which defeated East for the first time in six years, according to coach Carie Bodo. Elizabeth Pellechi had four goals and three assists for East (1-2).
Northport 20, Ward Melville 7: Shannon Gilroy scored eight goals with four assists for Northport (4-0). It is the 300th win for Carol Rose, who is the first girls lacrosse coach in the state to reach the milestone. Courtney Fortunato added four goals and three assists. Emily Rogers-Healion led Ward Melville (3-1) with three goals.
Lindenhurst 7, West Babylon 5: Cooper Sesselman scored two straight goals, both assisted by Melissa DellaRocca, to give Lindenhurst (3-1) a 6-5 lead early in the second half. Sesselman finished with three goals, DellaRocca had three assists and Jessica Wharry had two goals and two assists. Rachel Ramirez made 14 saves. Christina Esposito led West Babylon (1-3) with two goals and two assists.
Wantagh 13, Manhasset 11: April Iannetta scored four goals for Wantagh (3-0), which led 10-5 at halftime in Conference B-I. Paula Schmidt added three goals and three assists, and Kaleigh Craig had two goals and two assists, and Kelly Keenan made 12 saves. Charlotte Avallone and Halle Majorana each scored three goals for Manhasset (3-1).
Cold Spring Harbor 10, Locust Valley 9: Junior Kelly Anne Sherlock scored a career high six goals for Cold Spring Harbor (4-0) in Conference III. Claire Switala scored her only goal at the start of the second half to tie it up at 4, and Victoria Kotowski had a goal and three assists. Stephanie Lucidi and Bairre Reilly each had three goals and an assist for Locust Valley (2-1).
Baldwin 11, East Meadow 9: Allie Rodgers scored four goals for Baldwin (4-2), which trailed 4-3 at halftime, in non-league. Kelsey Cohen added three goals and one assist, and Victoria Pelligrino had two goals and two assists. Jenna Borresen and Ryan Mayer each scored three goals for East Meadow (2-5).
Long Island Lutheran 17, Rye Country Day School 16: Nicole Sinacori scored with 10 minutes left in the second half to give Long Island Lutheran (1-0) a 17-14 lead. Sinacori, a freshman, scored a career high eight goals for the Crusaders, who trailed 9-2 in the first half. Sophomore Carolyn Dottino added two goals and a career high seven assists, and Danielle Sinacori had two goals and three assists. Rye Country Day School is 0-2.
BOYS
South Side 9, Bethpage 3: Senior Dominic Moriarity made a career high 18 saves for South Side (3-3) in non-league. Bryan Gerrato and Kevin Waxon each scored three goals, and Mike Caldwell won 5-of-8 faceoffs. Eric Ritchie made 16 stops for Bethpage (2-3).
Garden City 14, San Ramon Valley (Calif.) 7: Junior Devin Dwyer had a career high eight assists for Garden City (4-1). Patric Berkery added four goals and one assist, and Liam Kennedy scored four goals. Justin Gutterding had two goals and one assist, and Dan Marino made 10 saves.
