Starting Wednesday, students across the state are expected to begin the math portion of the Common Core exams.

Students took the ELA tests last week, but a Newsday study showed that about 42 percent of students opted out Islandwide. Last year about 10 percent of students opted out.

Even higher number are expected to skip this week's math test. Common Core opponents say if that trend continues, the state will be forced to make changes.
