Compito wins it for Syosset girls in OT

Dominique Compito scored from the center hash with 1:22 left in overtime to lift Syosset to a 5-4 season-opening win over East Meadow Saturday in a girls lacrosse non-league game.
Syosset junior goalkeeper Meg Gulmi recorded a career-high 19 saves in the win. Emily Fitzsimmons scored a goal and had two assists for East Meadow.
Bethpage 15, Jericho 5: Junior Lindsay Cafiero had career-high in goals (six), assists (five) and points (11) and Brianne DeNigris had four goals and one assist to lead Bethpage in non-league. Brianna Whelan (15) and Nicolette DeAngelis combined for 18 saves in the win.
Baldwin 13, Elmont 2: Senior Courtney Berg scored a career-high six goals and added an assist and Allie Rodgers had four goals and two assists to lead Baldwin (1-0) in its non-league season opener.
Hewlett 22, Carey 8: Senior Dani Kandel scored a career-high seven goals, Jenni Rogoff had five goals and an assist and Meri Oshrain made 12 saves to lead Hewlett. Daina Cantanese had four goals for Carey.
West Islip 13. Massapequa 10: Lorraine Hodgson had four goals and two assists and Loren Ziegler and Erin Collins each had three goals to lift West Islip.
Sayville 17, Lindenhurst 5: Mia Bonocore scored two goals, Emily Meier had four goals and one assist and Kimmi Marra added three goals and three assists for Sayville in non-league.
BOYS LACROSSE
Floral Park 10, New Hyde Park 7: Casey Giarrantiana scored four goals, James O'Boyle had two goals and two assists and Andrew Viola had two goals to lead Floral Park.
Friends Academy 12, Bayport- Blue Point 9: Harry Dellafera and Will Sands each had four goals and one assist and Alex Ryan had one goal and four assists for Friends Academy. Mike DiBlasio scored four goals for Bayport-Blue Point.
