Desvarieux, Leger lead Lawrence girls to win

Farrah Desvarieux got a steal and drove the length of the court for a layup with 1:29 remaining to give Lawrence a three-point lead en route to their 52-51 win over Plainedge Tuesday in Nassau Conference A-II girls basketball.

Desvarieux, a senior, had eight points, a career-high 10 assists and four steals. Natalie Leger had 17 points and nine rebounds and Nicole Robinson 10 points and 13 rebounds. Cansu Atali scored 20 points and Michelle Daubman 16 for Plainedge.Farmingdale 39, Syosset 36: Alexis Panariello got a steal and scored on a three-point play with nine seconds remaining to win it for Farmingdale (5-1) in AA-I. Kelly McPartland (12 points) tied it at 36 with a putback with 19 secondsleft.

Port Washington 37, Plainview JFK 30: Emily Rosenthal had 16 points and eight steals for Port Washington (4-7) in AA-II. Ali Seltzer added four points and eight rebounds and Hayley Kerr had eight points, eight rebounds and four steals.

Bellmore JFK 51, Calhoun 44: Allie Keller had 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists for Bellmore JFK (4-3) in AA-III. Morgan Kitton added eight points and nine rebounds and Carly Thea had nine points and three assists.

Glen Cove 54, Manhasset 52: Nicole Alexander scored eight of her 20 points in the fourth quarter to help Glen Cove (2-4) withstand Manhasset's 17-11 run in A-III. McKayla Hernandez had 15 points.

Floral Park 41, West Hempstead 29: Seventh-grader Kaela Hilaire scored 16 points and had six assists to lead Floral Park (5-0) in A-III. Julia Schmidt scored seven of her 10 points in the fourth quarter and had eight rebounds.

Sachem East 56, Lindenhurst 51: Meagan Doherty had 23 points and 10 rebounds for Sachem East (6-0) in League I. Emily Carmel's three-pointer gave the Flaming Arrows a 46-42 lead with 2:45 left. Kathleen Everson added seven points and 11 rebounds. Shannon Crehan scored 15 points for Lindenhurst (5-1).

Northport 54, Central Islip 40:Allie Clarke, Megan Marinelli and Chrystal Pope each had eight points to lead Northport (6-0) in League II. Brenda Hornedo and Janiece Jenkins had 12 points each for Central Islip.

Connetquot 43, Hills East 39: Ericka Ellwanger had 11 points and Jessica Cordano nine points and seven assists to lead Connetquot (4-2) in League II. Ally Albright had 15 points for Hills East (1-5).

Centereach 45, Smithtown West 33: Dom Wilson had 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals for Centereach (4-2) in League III. Jenna Agostino added 10 points and four assists and Heather Ferchland had nine points and 12 rebounds.

Copiague 67, Newfield 32: Tracey McFadden had eight points and 11 rebounds to lead Copiague (4-2) in League III. Chelsea Williams added 15 points and KellyAnn Sullivan had a season-high 13 points.

Harborfields 82, Miller Place 57: Junior Kasey Stolba had a career-high 27 points along with 10 rebounds and eight steals to lead Harborfields (6-0) in League V. Bridgit Ryan added 17 points and 10 rebounds and Alexia O'Connor had 15 points. Brea Greene and Marlaina Sherman each scored 21 points for Miller Place.

Kings Park 55, Islip 43: Marion Kawecki had 15 points, five rebounds and five steals to lead Kings Park (5-1) in League V. Meghan Eckel had 14 points, nine rebounds and six assists and Daniele Buoncore had 12 points and five rebounds. Shannon Duer had 21 points and 11 rebounds for Islip.

Portledge 34, Solomon Schechter 21: Kristie Kelly had 12 points and three steals for Portledge (4-0) in IPPSAL. Amelia Bayroff scored nine points for Solomon Schechter.
