Downed trees 'just miss' Dix Hills family at home
Dix Hills Fire Department First Assistant Chief Tom Magno said there are a lot of downed trees and power lines in the area.
In one case, a family on Brycewood Drive was in their living room when a tree came right into their house and "just missed them," Magno said.
There are many other incidents in which trees have fallen on homes, he said.
Magno added that firefighters were almost hit by a falling tree while they were bringing in a generator at the home of a child on life support.
