Emergency seminars coming to Suffolk
Seminars on preparing for emergencies will be offered later this month at public meetings in Northport, Stony Brook and Nesconset.
The gatherings will include presentations on dealing with natural disasters and other emergencies, said the office of State Sen. John Flanagan (R-East Northport), who is sponsoring the seminars.
Representatives of the New York State Emergency Management Office, the Suffolk County Office of Emergency Management, the American Red Cross and the Long Island Power Authority will discuss preparing a disaster supply kit, developing a family communications plan and other tips.
The seminars will begin at 7 p.m. and are scheduled on the following dates:
Aug. 22: Northport Public Library, 151 Laurel Ave., Northport.
Aug. 23: Ward Melville Heritage Organization, 97 Main St., Stony Brook.
Aug. 24: Nesconset Fire Department, 25 Gibbs Pond Rd., Nesconset.
