Gaine's four goals lead Bay Shore
Brendan Gaine scored four goals, including the winner 48 seconds into overtime, to lift Bay Shore to an 8-7 win over Smithtown East in Division I boys lacrosse on Friday.
Kevin Cox won 12 of 18 faceoffs, including one to set up Gaine's winning shot. Smithtown East's Ryan Desimone scored his fourth goal of the game to tie it with 6:39 left in regulation. Bay Shore is 7-3.
St. Dominic 13, Portledge 12: Ryan Perkins had five goals, including the winner off a feed from Justin Mayr with 38.7 seconds left in the first overtime to lead St. Dominic (8-5) in non-league. Mayr had one goal and four assists and Dan Ahern four assists and two goals in the win. Nick Lobley scored nine goals for Portledge.
Sachem East 12, Half Hollow Hills West 11: Rob Neubert had three goals and Joe Eisman two goals and two assists as Sachem East (6-4) took a 10-3 halftime lead in Division I. Hills West's Michael Primiano had three goals and four assists.
Carey 13, Oceanside 5: Peter Nicholls scored a season-high six goals to lead Carey (8-4) in non-league. Jake Robison had three goals and an assist, Mike Locicero two goals and three assists, and Nick Fasano made eight of his 15 saves in the third quarter.
Glen Cove 11, Freeport 9: Owen Valance and Scott Nicolich each had three goals and two assists and Kevin Nicholas had three goals to lead Glen Cove (3-9) in non-league.
Uniondale 7, Island Trees 5: Fredes Quijida and Elijah Shabazz each scored two goals as Uniondale (5-5) overcame a 4-1 first-quarter deficit in non-league.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Glen Cove 7, Carey 6: Gabby Morrocu scored the go-ahead goal with 4:31 left to lead Glen Cove (5-0) in Conference BC. Olivia Silvestri scored three goals and Alex Gerin two, including the tying score with 14:42 remaining.
Harborfields 9, Shoreham-Wading River 7: Sarah Crowley and Bridget Greene each scored four goals to lead Harborfields (8-3) in Division II. Trisha Rieger led the defense with three forced turnovers and four ground balls.
MacArthur 11, Freeport 9: Emily Powell (two goals) scored the go-ahead goal with 3:19 left, Kelly Pearse scored four goals and goalie Caitlin Cooksey made 17 saves for MacArthur (5-1) in Conference A-II.
Bellmore JFK 19, Mepham 16: Morgan Kitton had five goals and three assists, Samantha Rothery added five goals and four assists and Kerri Baum three goals to lead Bellmore JFK (1-4) in Conference B-II.
Plainedge 11, Division 8: Marisa Levings scored four of her five goals in the second half, including a score with 6:48 left to give Plainedge (2-3) a 9-7 lead in Conference B-I. Kayla Garritano made eight of her 12 saves in the second half for Plainedge.
