Garden City coach Rich Smith picked up his 600th career victory with a 6-1 win over Mineola Saturday in Game 3 of the best-of-three Nassau Class A baseball playoffs.

Smith, in his 39th season, is 600-340-12. He has won 16 conference titles, three Nassau crowns, one Long Island title in 2000 and a state Class B championship in 2000.

Brandon Samardich and Scott Conetta each had RBI hits in a four-run fourth inning, Dan Muller drove in two runs on a two-out single in the fifth and Darryl Tan pitched a two-hitter with four strikeouts to lead No. 4 Garden City (18-4-1). Garden City will play at No. 3 Island Trees Monday in the semifinals. Ninth-seeded Mineola is 13-11.
