The Hicksville Comets are skyrocketing up the Nassau Conference I boys lacrosse standings behind shooting stars Sal Geneva and Joey Leonard.

They have won five straight in the conference after Wednesday's upset at first-place Massapequa. Geneva scored on an assist from Leonard with 3:14 into overtime for the 8-7 win after trailing by four in the fourth quarter.

The Comets won this matchup for the first time in the six-year history of the Walker Cup, the trophy awarded to the winner of the annual Hicksville-Massapequa clash. The trophy is named after late Oyster Bay politician John Walker.

It was the fourth one-goal game for Hicksville this season, but during the Comets' conference winning streak, they have won by nearly seven goals per game. In those five games, Geneva has 15 goals and eight assists, and Leonard has 10 goals and 15 assists.

The Comets fell to 10-3 after a non-league loss to Wantagh Saturday, but remain one game behind Massapequa for first place at 6-2.
