The Town of Babylon’s Growers Market will open for the season Saturday in Copiague at the corner of Great Neck Road and Oak Street.

The market will be open Saturdays through Nov. 19, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Sal Puglia of the Copiague Chamber of Commerce said the market will feature about a dozen vendors, not professional farmers but town residents who grow vegetables in their backyards or in plots at Edith Saltzer Organic Community Garden in Deer Park.

“These are people who are sharing with their neighbors and making a couple dollars in the meantime,” he said. Offerings will include tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, squash, garlic, carrots, melons, corn and garlic, much of it organically grown.

Town residents or employees of town businesses who have home-grown produce to sell are welcome; there are no vendor fees.

For further information, visit the Copiague Chamber of Commerce website  or call Puglia at 631-225-1663.
