New York State and Nassau County are postponing COVID-19 vaccinations scheduled for Sunday because of a storm expected to dump up to 9 inches of snow on Long Island.
For the state sites, at Stony Brook University and Jones Beach, appointments will be rescheduled over the next seven days, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said in a news release.
Those with Sunday slots will receive a text or email — depending on how the resident signed up for the appointment — for rescheduling, Melissa DeRosa, Cuomo's top aide, said on Twitter.
Residents unable to make the new appointment time will be told to call for a different time, the governor's office said.
Coronavirus testing at Jones Beach and Stony Brook also is closed on Sunday.
Nassau County will reschedule all vaccine appointments made for Sunday at the Yes We Can Community Center in New Cassel and at Nassau Community College, County Executive Laura Curran said Saturday. The new appointments will be for Tuesday night, and anyone who cannot make it on Tuesday will be rescheduled individually, she said.
Those with Sunday appointments should receive two emails, one postponing the appointment and one for the new appointment, Curran said.
The state closed its Buffalo vaccination site Saturday because of a storm in Western New York, with appointments rescheduled for Sunday and Monday.
Suffolk's two sites — at Community College campuses in Brentwood and Riverhead — already were scheduled to be closed Sunday because the county ran out of its vaccine allocation, county spokesman Derek Poppe said in an email.
