People with diabetes and caretakers can sign up for a free four-session course on learning how to better manage the disease.

The sessions run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on April 28, May 5, May 12 and May 19 at the South Brookhaven Family Health Center, 365 E. Main St., Patchogue.

The classes share information to help people "properly self-manage their diabetes and enable them to lead healthier and happier lives," said a news release from the Suffolk County Department of Health Services, which is offering the course in collaboration with Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County.

As class size is limited, attendees are advised to register early with Anastasia Loper, 631-727-7850 ext. 340 or abl98@cornell.edu.
