"It was a little bit of everything," says Fehringer, who is married with four girls, ages 10, 9, 8 and 5. "I was busy with the children. I wasn't focusing on what I was supposed to eat or how much. I ate anything quick and whatever leftovers there were from what I cooked for them."

She says dragging around the extra weight was a real problem with four active children.

"One day, I realized I didn't want my kids to just see me as someone sitting around," Fehringer says of her inactive lifestyle. "I wanted them to see me as someone taking control of my health. It was the best thing I could have done for my children."

Fehringer turned to Nutrisystem to learn how and what to eat and to practice portion control.

"The convenience of prepared meals was one of the reason I chose Nutrisystem," Fehringer says. "To make meals for myself and then make something separate for them wasn't an option."

She says that proper portion control was a huge wake-up call. "You can go out to dinner and eat all your day's calories in one meal," Fehringer says of the way she used to eat.

"Arugula and grilled chicken are mainstays on my plate," says Fehringer, who eats her last meal of the day by 7 p.m. "My husband has lost 25 pounds, thanks to the changes I've made."

She adds that you can't make excuses such as not having a healthy snack or meal with you and then grab a slice of pizza or other unhealthy foods. "It all came down to planning and commitment."
