Health Tip: Curbing Nighttime Nursing
Older babies may be able to sleep through the night, but may still wake up to nurse.
The University of Michigan Health System suggests how to curb baby's nighttime nursing:
- Offer more frequent feedings throughout the day.
- Encourage baby to fall asleep without being nursed, such as by being rocked by your partner or carried in a baby sling.
- When baby cries, wait before you go in and nurse. Increase this wait time gradually.
