Sun damage can lead to tough, leather-like skin, wrinkles and dark brown spots.

The Skin Cancer Foundation offers these suggestions to help the health and appearance of sun-damaged skin:

  • Protect skin by applying daily sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher, to prevent additional damage.
  • Remove dead skin cells from (exfoliate) your skin with a loofah, alpha hydroxy acid cleanser, gentle scrub or at-home microdermabrasion kit.
  • Hydrate skin with a thick, rich moisturizer.
  • See a dermatologist about other options to treat sun damage.
