Health Tip: Keep Mosquitoes at Bay
Mosquito bites can be more than just an itchy annoyance; they can transmit diseases such as West Nile Virus.
The California Department of Public Health suggests how to help prevent mosquito bites:
- As standing water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes, promptly eliminate any standing water around your home.
- Stay indoors during the times when mosquitoes are most active, notably at dusk and dawn.
- Use an insect repellent that protects against mosquitoes, such as those that include DEET, IR-3535, oil of lemon, eucalyptus or picaridin.
- Check window screens to make sure they do not need repair.
