The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons offers these warning signs of overuse injuries in children:

  • Pain that worsens with activity.
  • Unexplained swelling.
  • Differences in your child's technique or form when playing a sport.
  • Reduced interest in playing a sport or practicing.
