Two types of holiday bark snacks sold nationally by Aldi have been voluntarily recalled because they may contain undeclared allergens that could pose a risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said this week.
The products — Choceur branded Cookie Butter Holiday Bark and Choceur branded Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark — were sold in 5-ounce bags, according to a statement issued by Silvestri Sweets, Inc., the Geneva, Illinois, producer of the snacks.
In that statement, Silvestri said the Cookie Butter barks may contain "undeclared pecans" and said the lots involved — No. 28525, 29925 and 30625 — all have Best By dates of 05/2026. The Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday barks all have the same lot numbers — but have Best By dates of 08/2026, Silvestri said. Silvestri said those packages may contain undeclared wheat, which also poses a serious health risk to some.
The company initially issued a voluntary recall of the holiday barks in late November, involving another lot — No. 29225.
The three lots cited this week are in addition to that initial recall.
In its statement, Silvestri said of the oversight: "Subsequent investigation indicates the problem may have been caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging process."
THE USFDA and Silvestri have said no illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the recalled products.
Consumers who’ve purchased any of the recalled items are being urged to discard them. The USFDA said consumers with questions regarding the recall should contact Silvestri Sweets at 1-630-232-2500 Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CST. Consumers also can email the company with questions at customerservice@carousel-candies.com.
