Lean Cuisine recalls Favorites spaghetti

An hour's worth of Lean Cuisine Simple Favorites Spaghetti with Meatballs is being recalled because the product may contain pieces of red plastic, the Lean Cuisine owner Nestle has announced.

Consumers are advised to look for UPC code 13800-10390 and a production code of 0298595519 P.

The voluntary recall is limited to this one hour of production, which was distributed to multiple states. No other production dates, sizes or varieties of Lean Cuisine products are affected by this recall.

Nestle said it took the action after a few consumers reported they had found red plastic in the meatball portion of the entree. No injuries were reported by any of these consumers. Thus far, the plastic complaints appear to be confined to a very short period of production. However, out of an abundance of caution, Nestle said it is recalling the entire hour code of that product marked 0298595519 P.

The entree being recalled was produced during late October, 2010 and due to its popularity, Nestle believes very little remains in retail distribution. However, the company is asking consumers to check their freezer inventory for packages of Lean Cuisine Simple Favorites Spaghetti with Meatballs with the UPC code of 13800-10390 and production code 0298595519 P. To locate the production code, consumers should look for the gray "proof of purchase" panel, located on the right end flap of the package, below the ingredient statement.
