Lidl recalls shortbread cookies in New York due to undeclared ingredients

Grocery chain Lidl is recalling a brand of shortbread cookies in New York and other states due to undeclared wheat, soy, milk and egg.

Eridanous shortbread cookies with chocolate truffle coating and apricot filling, sold in 11.6-ounce boxes, were recalled after their foreign-language packaging was discovered to be missing listings of ingredients, nutrition facts and allergen declarations in English, a Lidl US news release said.

The products were distributed between July 15 and 22 to all Lidl stores in New York, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.

Customers with an allergy or sensitivity to wheat, soy, milk or eggs should not consume this product and immediately discard or return it to their nearest Lidl, the release said. A receipt is not required for return.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

"The health and safety of our customers is our top priority. Lidl US regrets any inconvenience related to this voluntary recall," Lidl said in a statement.

Lidl US has 23 stores on Long Island among 34 in New York State, according to its online store finder.
