Health insurer allies with NYC hospitals
North Shore-LIJ CareConnect announced last week that it has allied with New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation to expand its network of hospitals and physicians in New York City. This adds 11 hospitals to the health insurer's network, bringing to 44 the number of hospitals CareConnect members will have access to in downstate New York, the insurer said.
The first provider-owned commercial health plan in the state, CareConnect was created in 2013 by North Shore-LIJ Health System, which includes 21 hospitals.
HHC has hospitals in four boroughs, including Bellevue Hospital Center in Manhattan; Elmhurst Hospital in Queens; Coney Island Hospital and Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn and North Central Bronx Hospital.
