Research continues to show that eating disorders are the deadliest of all mental illnesses. For an estimated 97,000 individuals on Long Island suffering from an eating disorder, finding help is difficult and costly. A Florida company faced opposition from Glen Cove officials and residents to open a group home for people with anorexia nervosa, bulimia and other disorders. The center is scheduled to open this spring.
