Snowblower injuries and childbirth at LI hospitals
An amputated finger and a wounded hand were among the snowblower injuries being treated at six Catholic Health Services hospitals across Long Island on Saturday, officials said.
Chris Hendriks, a spokeswoman for the network, said each hospital had seen "a dozen or more" blizzard-related cases Saturday, including patients with chest pain, fractures and other injuries from falls and minor car collisions.
There was some good news, though: at 5:30 a.m. Saturday a mother was brought to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson through 32 inches of snow to give birth, Hendriks said.
