Voters in Herricks Union Free School District shot down its proposed budget by one vote – 1728 in favor vs. 1729 opposed.

The district proposed a 3.8 percent hike in its budget to $97,373,015 for the 2010-11 school year, which would have increased the tax levy by 4.83 percent.

Results are still coming in, but as of around 11 p.m., Herricks’ budget was one of only nine to fail, with 101 approved.
