His store is usually busy on game day. Today, it's quiet.
Kennedy McArthur, an employee at Convenience Station Market Newsstand in Ronkonkoma, said that on a Saturday morning — especially the day of an MLB baseball game — the store will usually be buzzing with customers.
But in the few hours it’s been opened at 5 a.m., McArthur said he can count on his hand how many people have patronized the store.
“It’s really bad,” said McArthur, who has worked at the store for 21 years.
Located a few feet away from the railroad tracks, McArthur said many people will stop by the store to purchase a drink before hopping on the train to a baseball game.
“It’s not fair, not just for money but for the people who want to go to the city,” he said.
