Jarrett's two-hitter leads Northport
Molly Jarrett threw a two-hitter, walked one and struck out 12 as No. 14 Northport upset No. 3 East Islip, 4-1, Wednesday in the first round of the Suffolk Class AA playoffs. Erin Joyce was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Nicole Pirretti went 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs for Northport (11-9), which will play at Deer Park at 4 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals. East Islip is 18-3.

Deer Park 4, Smithtown West 1: Sabrina Riley hit a three-run triple and Marie Racano (3-for-4) followed with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning as No. 6 Deer Park defeated No. 11 Smithtown West. Aly Dzierzynski went 2-for-4 and Ari Tedeschi went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple. Lisa Bonacasa tossed seven innings, allowing nine hits with one strikeout and one walk.
Smithtown East 4, Hauppauge 1: Jessica Mulderig went 2-for-3 with a two-run single in the top of the fourth to open the scoring and Corinne Vazac threw a four-hitter to lift No. 13 Smithtown East (13-8) past No. 4 Hauppauge (16-5). Smithtown East will play at Longwood in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Friday.
Half Hollow Hills West 5, Bellport 3: Morgan Hughes' bases-loaded walk in the bottom of fourth scored Jessica Kleet to give No. 2 Hills West (20-1) a 3-2 lead. Hughes and Kleet each went 2-for-4 and Danica Vasa added two hits. Hills West will host the West Babylon-Commack winner in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Friday.
Bay Shore 6, Centereach 2: Briana Coan's two-out, three-run double in the bottom of the fifth inning gave No. 1 Bay Shore (21-0) a 5-2 lead over No. 16 Centereach (13-9). Gianna Panariello went 2-for-2 with a stolen base and two runs and Taylor McGowan threw a three-hitter, striking out nine and allowing two unearned runs. Bay Shore hosts Connetquot at 4 p.m. Friday at Fifth Avenue Elementary School in the quarterfinals.
Connetquot 5, Sachem East 4: Marisa Monaco and Lizzie Frayler scored on a throwing error in the top of the ninth to break a tie at 3 and lead No. 9 Connetquot (15-5) over No. 8 Sachem East (14-6). Amanda Schoenfeld scored on Monaco's single in the sixth to tie the score at 3. Chelsea LaMarca allowed seven hits for the complete-game win.
