Johnson sets discus mark for Baldwin
Senior Ieshawn Johnson set a career and school record in the discus with a throw of 175 feet, 71/2 inches as Baldwin totaled 103 points in a Nassau Conference I quad meet Monday.
Johnson bested his previous mark of 169 feet set last season.
Jarrek Babb won the 400-meter hurdles (55.9) for the Bruins, who beat Herricks (87 points), Hicksville (50) and Syosset (30).
East Meadow 87.5, Uniondale 87, MacArthur 69, Hempstead 10.5: Mike Ring won the high jump (5-10) and the discus (119-111/4) and Sean Grady took first in the mile in 4:36 for East Meadow.
GIRLS TRACK
Valley Stream North 119.5, North Shore 88.5, Friends Academy 39, Malverne 3: Danielle Berman won the 400 hurdles (72.2) and the 100 hurdles (17.5) to lead Valley Stream North in Conference IV. Shanice Johnson won the 100 (12.4) and the 200 (25.9) in the win. Garden City 98.5, Calhoun 55.5, Mepham 34: Taylor Hennig won the 100 meters (12.5), the 200 (26.2) and ran the anchor leg of the winning 4 x 400-relay (58.8) for Garden City in a Conference II tri-meet.
BOYS LACROSSE
Mepham 11, Calhoun 9: Allen West scored off a feed from Trace Agostino with two minutes left to give Mepham an 11-9 lead in non-conference. Agostino scored two minutes earlier to give Mepham a 10-9 lead. Matt Byrne had three goals and Vin Moryc had two goals and two assists in the win. Commack 12, Riverhead 6: David Murphy had three goals and four assists for Commack in Division I. Pat Mulligan added three goals and two assists and Anthony Noto had three goals and one assist. Billy Sampson made 10 saves.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Great Neck South 7, Elmont 6: Samantha Rickey scored the winner with 2:19 left for Great Neck South in Conference B-III. Christina Samborsky had two goals and two assists and Brittany John made 15 saves in the win.Harborfields 9, Bayport-Blue Point 7: Kasey Stolba scored three second-half goals and Katie White scored the go-ahead goal with 6:52 remaining as Harborfields erased a 7-3 deficit in Division II. Sarah Crowley added three goals and two assists.
