Have you ever gone on a school field trip? I went with my fourth-grade class to the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan. Our teacher, Mr. Victor Collaco, likes to take these trips during school breaks, and they are so much fun.

We all met at the museum, and our big thrill was to see the amazing dinosaur exhibit. The bones of the dinosaurs were as tall as the actual museum. We also saw an American Indian exhibit. They had clothes, tools and weapons. They also had canoes from two American Indian tribes here in New York.

After about two hours, it was time for lunch, so everyone went down to the cafeteria to eat together.

After that, we saw a space movie. It was about a satellite that went up the first time and was a failure but a second launch was a big success.

The worst part of the day was when we had to leave to go home.

If you want to take this trip to the museum, visit the website amnh.org for more information.

Our cross-country adventures

Last summer vacation, my family and I went on a road trip across the United States. We traveled from New York all the way to California, zigzagging through states and up to Canada to see Niagara Falls. It was a great trip.

One of my favorite places we visited was the Grand Canyon. The first stop we made was Eagle Point. Over millions of years, the rock eroded and turned out to look like giant eagle. The formation is inside the canyon. It was really cool, and a lot of kids were there. We had a great time. There is a glass bridge called the Sky Walk. The bridge curves close to the middle of the Grand Canyon, then curves back in. It is a full glass bridge, and you can see the bottom of the canyon. I even took a helicopter to the center of the canyon, so we could take a boat ride on the Colorado River. The river still has American Indian tribes living around it.

In Flagstaff, Ariz., we visited Slide Rock, which is a natural water flow. The rocks have been smoothed over from millions of years of weathering, and now you can slide down them. It is a blast.

It was a long, three-week trip with my family driving in a minivan. There are six of us; I have two sisters, one brother and two parents. We all had a great time and would love to go again.
