Latino residents will host a community workshop Saturday in Hempstead Village on the significance and implications of political redistricting.

The Long Island Civic Participation Project, an immigrant advocacy group based in the village, will hold the workshop at 5 p.m. its office, 250 Fulton Ave., Suite 607.

In anticipation of upcoming elections, the workshop seeks to inform English- and Spanish-speaking residents, as well as community stakeholders, about the impact that redistricting can have in their communities. Speakers will explain the process by which the boundaries of elective districts are redrawn to maintain equal representation on the basis of population, organizers said.

Attendees will be able to ask questions and raise concerns about the redistricting process during the bilingual forum, organizers said.
