Letters: Obama is fixing the country
Once again, Charles Krauthammer is on an Obama-bashing tirade and skewing facts ["Obama runs on class warfare," Opinion, Dec. 11].
But he must remember that much of our debt did begin when President George W. Bush invaded Iraq and built up expenditures of trillions of dollars. And, of course, let's not forget the finance and bank deregulation that took place then. So if blame is to be given, let's put it where it rightfully belongs.
1) Let's fully tax all of our religious organizations and the properties they own, instead of allowing them tax breaks. The Republican conservative stance, which Krauthammer embraces, is always complaining about handouts from our government, so let's try this approach. It certainly would generate much-needed revenue to all our citizens.
2) Instead of giving people with large families tax breaks, maybe we should tax them more. Why should a childless family pay as much in taxes as a family with 10 children?
Krauthammer wrote that all Obama has is "class resentment." I'm glad he has it. Middle-class people understand.
What about the terrorists he rid the world of? Has Krauthammer no feeling for the Sept. 11 victims? He should try being a little more human and less political.
