Lindenhurst takes Suffolk League II title

Brad Witkowski struck out 10 in six innings as Lindenhurst took the Suffolk League II baseball title with a 9-0 win over Whitman Thursday.
Lindenhurst coach Mike Canobbio became the fifth coach in Suffolk history to win 500 games. Lindenhurst improved to 15-2. In 35 years coaching the Bulldogs, Canobbio has led the program to 28 playoff appearances, 10 league titles and a state Class AA title in 2010.
"We always preach team, and I've had a lot of tremendous teams, good individual talent and great coaching staffs," Canobbio said.
