The LIRR station in Jamaica on Sunday afternoon looked more like a public transportation version of a ghost town than the bustling transit hub for the largest commuter railroad in the United States.
Bright orange barricades blocked entry to the track platforms, and for the people inside the station, LIRR officials in orange vests were available to answer any questions.
A large digital screen that provided train times for the day read: "No passengers," next to each entry.
