After no changes in last week's girls lacrosse top 10, there are quite a few changes in this week's rankings due to some surprising upsets in Suffolk.

Northport lost its first game of the season on Friday, 9-8 at Ward Melville (scroll down), but remains the No. 2 team on the list because it was playing without Suffolk's leading scorer Shannon Gilroy, who was nursing a hamstring injury. Gilroy will not play today in the Tigers' regular-season finale at Sachem North, but she is expected to return when the postseason begins on Monday. Northport's loss snapped a 33-game winning streak against Division I opponents (including playoffs).

Shoreham-Wading River's streak of wins over Suffolk foes was even longer — 57 games — until Hauppauge dealt the host Wildcats a 9-8 defeat on Tuesday. SWR's last loss to a Suffolk opponent was April 24, 2007, to Rocky Point. The Wildcats move down one spot to No. 4 this week.

West Islip, which had one 11 of its first 12 this season, drops out completely after its home loss to Middle Country on Wednesday, 13-11. The Lions bounced back with a 13-10 win at Sachem North on Friday behind three goals apiece from Lorraine Hodgson and Loren Ziegler.

O.K., so where does this leave girls lax in Gregg Sarra's Big 10? Well, nearly non-existent. Garden City, winner of 21 straight, is the lone girls lacrosse representative in Week 7 of the Big 10, checking in at No. 3 behind Bay Shore softball and West Islip boys lacrosse.

In this week's ESPN Rise FAB 50, 13 Long Island teams are in the top 50 in the country, including three in the top 20 and two in the top 10. Garden City remains at No. 2 (behind McDonogh of Maryland, whose season is now complete), while Manhasset moves up two spots to No. 10. Northport drops 10 spots to No. 14, Rocky Point checks in at No. 21, St. Anthony's is 23rd, and Eastport-South Manor jumps 21 spots to 27th. Hauppauge is 28th, Shoreham-Wading River drops 16 spots to No. 29, West Babylon is 36th, Farmingdale is 37th, West Islip is 38th, Bay Shore 41st, and Wantagh 49th.

Here's this week's Long Island top 10...

Kait Brosco scored three goals in the loss, SWR's first defeat against a Division II opponent since April 24, 2007, a span of 57 games. The Wildcats bounced back with a 17-2 win at Miller Place on Thursday and a 19-8 victory at Huntington yestebehind Brosco's game-high six goas. SWR closed the game on a 12-0 run. 6. St. Anthony's (13-3, 9-0 CHSAA) — The Friars won three CHSAA games last week in easy fashion — 17-8 at Kellenberg on Monday, 15-4 against Holy Trinity on Wednesday, and 17-5 against Sacred Heart on Friday. Casey Madden and Kerrin Maurer each scored seven goals in the three wins, while Tori Holland made 21 saves. Yesterday, the Friars continued their hot streak with an 18-7 win at St. John the Baptist behind Chrissy Schreiber and Annie Heagerty, who each had three goals and one assist. 7. Eastport-South Manor (13-2, 12-2 Division II) — In their only game last week, the Sharks earned a 14-13 win over visiting Islip on Tuesday. Hauppauge has held five of its last six opponents under 10 goals.

Next up for the Eagles: As the No. 3 seed in the Suffolk Class B playoffs, they'll play host to No. 6 Miller Place at noon on Saturday.

9. Bay Shore (12-3, 11-2 Division I) — The Marauders won a pair of Division I games on the road back-to-back days last week. They took out East Islip 18-7 behind five goals and one assist from Kyra Harney last Tuesday, and then knocked off Patchogue-Medford 14-3 on Wednesday behind Caroline deLyra's three goals and five assists.

Next up for the Marauders: They'll finish their regular season this afternoon at home against North Babylon at 4 p.m. A win and a West Islip loss at Ward Melville would give them the No. 2 seed in the Class A playoffs. If both teams win, West Islip will be the No. 2 seed, and Bay Shore will be No. 3.

10. Wantagh (10-4, 6-2 Conference I) — In their only game last week, the Warriors challenged Garden City, but inevitably fell 15-11 on the road last Tuesday. Paula Schmidt had four goals and three assists in the loss, and Kelly Keenan made 12 saves.
