Sunday's unseasonably warm weather seems like a distant memory as temperatures won't even hit 40 degrees Tuesday on Long Island and snow is in the forecast.
Today's high will be 36 degrees with a windchill as low as 10, and the thermometer will drop down to a low of 19 degrees tonight. There's a 20 percent chance of snow this evening, and a 70 percent chance on Wednesday with accumulations of up to 1 inch possible.

HEMPSTEAD SCHOOL BOARD MEETING. The Hempstead school district board is scheduled to meet tonight at 7 in Hempstead High School’s auditorium, 201 President St. The board last month voted to dismiss deputy superintendent Julius Brown, who last year publicly admitted the district rounded up final grades. Te Long Island Rail Road canceled the 3:58 p.m. train from Riverhead due at Ronkonkoma at 4:43 p.m. due to equipment trouble. Customers are being accommodated by bus.

TV SHOW SHOOTING ON LI. The CBS drama "Person of Interest" is filming in downtown Mineola today near the Nassau County executive offices. The production, which began at 9 a.m. and will continue through midnight, could lead to some traffic closures on arteries such as 15th Street and Franklin Avenue, Nassau police said. SCHOOL EVACUATED FOR LEAK. Mandalay Elementary School in Wantagh was briefly evacuated Tuesday after a gas leak was detected in the area, a National Grid spokeswoman said. The evacuation lasted about a half-hour, from about 8:30 to 9 a.m.
RETIREMENT INCENTIVES. The Oyster Bay Town Board met this morning at Town Hall to discuss a local law authorizing a local retirement incentive program for the eligible employees of the town. Look for Bill Bleyer’s story at Newsday.com.
