The Powerball jackpot swelled again Wednesday night, this time to $403 million, the 13th-largest in the history of North American multistate grand prize lottery games.

With no one matching the five numbers — 7, 32, 41, 47, 61 — and the Powerball of 3, Saturday’s jackpot increased from $359 million, according to the New York Lottery.

The estimated cash value, one lump-sum payment before taxes, is $243.8 million, the lottery said.

Three tickets nationwide were worth $1 million each; those tickets, sold in California, Florida and Maryland, matched the five numbers Wednesday night but missed the Powerball.

Saturday’s expected jackpot surpasses the $399.4 million Powerball prize won in September 2013.

Because sales often increase when jackpots reach $300 million or higher, there’s a chance that Saturday’s grand prize could grow and surpass the 12th-highest in history — a $414 million Mega Millions pot from March 2014, according to lottery experts.
