Three winning tickets were sold in the $1.6 billion Powerball game Wednesday night — none on Long Island.
But five tickets worth $1 million were sold in New York, including one in Bethpage and three in Queens, according to the New York Lottery website.
The $1 million ticket from Bethpage was sold at the 7 Eleven at 25 Stewart Ave., though employees at the store said as of Thursday afternoon the lucky customer hadn’t yet come forward.
The organizer of a Powerball club in the Plainview-Bethpage area said Thursday morning that the pool won just over $1,000 in total.
Ali Kusinitz, the coordinator of the 1,200 members who contributed $10 each, said the pool did not make any purchases at the Bethpage 7-Eleven that sold the $1 million ticket.
“Even though we didn’t get the jackpot, we still had a good time doing it,” she said.
The group will donate their winnings to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Cohen Children’s Medical Center, North Shore Animal League and the Plainview Volunteer Fire Department Juniors, Kusinitz said.
The winning tickets for the world’s largest lottery jackpot were sold in Florida, Tennessee and California, according to lottery officials.
Each of the three tickets matched the five numbers — 4, 8, 19, 27, 34 and the Powerball of 10. Lump sum value for the game was about $930 million, so the three-way split before taxes and withholding will be more than $300 million each.
Nationwide, there were 73 $1 million tickets sold, including the five from New York. Those tickets matched the five numbers but missed the Powerball.
