Speed is the name of the game in track and field and the Half Hollow Hills West boys team has an abundance of it.

Dan McCord left no doubt in the minds of many in the Long Island track community that he is one of the area's top sprinters with victories in the 100 (10.75 seconds) and 200 meters (21.47) at the Suffolk Division II championships Wednesday.

The Princeton-bound senior wasn't the only one to put on a show for the Colts. Teammate Abdias Myrtil took second in the 100 (10.86) and 200 (21.82), and Justin Ma won the 400 (50.0).

McCord, Myrtil and Ma teamed with Jarried Redwood to win the 4 x 100 relay (43.76) as West took the Division II team title with 98 points.

Huntington's Tyriek Johnson was also a multiple winner in Division II, taking the 110 hurdles (14.72) and long jump (21 feet, 10 inches).

Karl Nilsen (13-0), Kyle Budney (12-6) and Matthew Rapp (12-6) took first, second and third in the pole vault for second-place Smithtown West, and Wade Richardson won the high jump (6-4) for third-place Copiague.

Longwood, fueled by four individual winners, exerted its strength, taking the Division I championship with 125 points.

Joe Fuller was a winner in the 800 (1:57.73), Shane Cruz won the pentathlon (3,138 points), Joe Payton the 400 hurdles (54.26), and Blake Evans the long jump (22-9 3/4).

Brentwood, led by Todd Coals with wins in the 100 (10.81) and 200 (21.78), took second overall. Ibrahim Abubaka was also a winner for Brentwood in the 400 (49.24).

Northport took fourth in Division I and was paced by Tim Odin in the 1,600 (4:27.04) and Lucas Hoffman in the 110 hurdles (14.73).

Port Jefferson, led by Andrew Keresztes, who won the 800 (1:56.95) and 1,600 (4:26.72), won the Division III team title (126.5 points).

Amityville's Sancho Barrett continued his winning ways in the 110 hurdles, taking the Division III title in 14.51 seconds. Ian Brown was also a winner in the 100 (11:04.0) for the second-place Warriors (91.5).

Southampton's Owen Laub won the 400 (50.05) and 200 (22.61), and Erik Anderson won the Division III high jump (6-2) for Shoreham-Wading River.

The Wildcats had two other winners with Ben Canellys in the pole vault (13-0) and Mike Clancy in the discus (141-2).

Bayport-Blue Point had multiple winners Connor Crowley in the 3,200 (9:38.26) and Joe Ray in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:06.22).
