MLB upholds Dickey one-hitter

One truly is the loneliest number for R.A. Dickey.
Major League Baseball denied the Mets appeal to change the lone Tampa Bay hit in Wednesday's game to an error, denying Dickey a no-hitter. It would have been the franchise's second no-hitter in 12 days after a 50-plus year streak without any.
Instead, it was the second one-hitter for Dickey and the 36th in Mets history.
With two outs in the first inning on Wednesday, B.J. Upton smacked a hard grounder to third base. As the speedy Upton raced down the line to first, David Wright tried to barehand the ball, which glanced off his hand and onto the turf.
Terry Collins said after the game that the team would appeal the play.
Joe Torre, MLB's executive vie president, said on Thursday he would review the play from multiple angles and seek other opinions, including that of former manager Tony La Russa. But he ultimately upheld the official scorer's position on Friday.
