Nassau holds 9/11 remembrance ceremony

On Monday, Nassau County officials and Long Island family members of 9/11 victims marked Wednesday’s 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks during a sunset candlelight and remembrance ceremony at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow.
The ceremony was led by Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano and included a reading of names.
“I think that smaller town memorials such as this for Nassau county residents — it’s just more personal and more intimate,” said Nancy Nee, of Holbrook, whose brother George C. Cain, a firefighter, died when the Twin Towers fell. “Going into the city, while it’s greatly appreciated, I just like to get the feel of getting to know the families on a more intimate basis.”
