When Max met Humans of New York photographer Brandon Stanton, he told him he wanted to become a reporter just like his father. Little did he know, his dream was about to come true.
A photo of Max and his dad was posted to the Humans of New York page in Facebook on Saturday, Nov. 14.
“My dad goes all over the world and learns about the news,” Max told Stanton. “If I was a reporter right now, I’d probably write a story about if NASA was going to launch a new rocket into space.”
The photo was seen by thousands, none more important than the professionals at NASA. They actually reached out to the young boy for an interview.
“NASA responded, how amazing is that?” Max wrote for Humans of New York.
A photo of Max was featured on the HONY Facebook page again Tuesday. This time, he was standing next to NASA Administrator Charles Bolden.
“I learned so much,” Max wrote. “I had so much fun, and I hope one day that I’ll be able to work for the news again.”
According to Stanton, Max’s first piece of journalism sparked a “bidding war” among major news organizations.
The HONY Facebook post sharing Max’s success story has received more than 84,000 likes and 1,800 comments so far.
“Thanks for the great interview Max!” NASA commented on the photo.
