Sadly, local teen Sahil Sangwan, an eighth-grader in the Three Village Central School District, who competed in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., this week, will not advance to the semifinals.

But doesn't it get you thinking -- how well could you do?

Take your guess on 12 spelling questions -- shared by bee organizers -- that were used in the 2014 Preliminaries Test and see how many you got right. 

The onstage rounds of the 2015 spelling bee are continuing today in National Harbor, Md. The finals will air on ESPN at 8 p.m.
