Accused Chelsea bomber Ahmad Rahami, hospitalized since his capture last month, will have his first court appearance in Union County, N.J., Superior Court on Thursday via videoconference, officials said.
Rahami, 28, will appear from his hospital room to face charges of trying to kill two Union County police officers stemming from a shootout Sept. 19 in Linden, New Jersey, when he was captured. He has been recovering from gunshot wounds.
He also faces federal explosives charges in federal courts in Manhattan in New Jersey for planting a homemade bomb in Chelsea that injured 31, and bombs in two separate locations in New Jersey.
No dates have yet been set for his appearance on the federal charges.
