A Brooklyn man accused of stabbing to death his wife and two of her young children was indicted Friday by a Brooklyn grand jury on murder and other related charges, the district attorney's office said.

Jermaine Ruiz, 24, was indicted on three counts of first degree murder, three counts of second degree murder, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and one count of tampering with physical evidence.

Ruiz had an argument with his wife, Jessica Ybe, in an apartment on Rogers Avenue in Brooklyn on Jan. 20, police said, and then stabbed her and her daughters, 2 and 5, more than a dozen times each.

Afterward, Ruiz told his father what had happened, officials said, and Ruiz's father notified police. The bodies were discovered and Ruiz was arrested on Jan. 22.

Ruiz is the father and Ybe was the mother of two other children, infant twin girls, police said, but those two children were not harmed.
