A religious group is yet again calling for Bill Maher to be kicked off the air, after gay rights activist Dan Savage slammed the Catholic Church on Maher's HBO show last week.

Saying that the "board of directors at Time Warner cannot distance themselves from Bill Maher any longer," the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights sent the board a report with "54 anti-Catholic statements made by Bill Maher on TV," imploring Time Warner not to bring back Maher's show next season.

"The show deserves to be cancelled," the group said.

Responding to reports of a Hawaii Bishop who said children of gay couples are more likely to commit suicide, Savage dismissed the claim Friday on "Real Time With Bill Maher" in a profanity-laced rant, making reference to sex abuse scandals in the Catholic Church.

Time Warner didn't respond to a request for comment.
