The family of a Maine woman who worked as a Craigslist escort and disappeared on Long Island is raising money for a reward in hopes someone will come forward with information about her location.

Megan Waterman, 22, of Scarborough was last seen in June at a hotel in Hauppauge where she went with her boyfriend.

Scarborough Police Detective Don Blatchford says police are treating Waterman’s disappearance as a missing-persons case. He is working with police in Suffolk County, N.Y.

Waterman traveled regularly between Maine and New York.

Blatchford has said Waterman’s Craigslist ads could be involved in her disappearance.

Blatchford tells the Portland Press Herald human trafficking is “a recognized problem in the area” where Waterman was last seen.
