FBI says cargo on truck stopped in I-95 in Conn. poses no danger

BRANFORD, Conn. - The FBI says a tractor-trailer that agents and police officers had surrounded at a travel stop on Interstate 95 in Connecticut is carrying no explosives.

Spokesman William Reiner said Friday that the truck is not a danger to the public. State Police Sgt. Shawn Quarry says a man and a woman who were in the truck were being interviewed and expected to be released Friday night. No arrests were expected.

Quarry says the trucking company's owner complained of suspicious activity about 4 p.m. Friday. Quarry didn't give details about the complaint or name the company. He says authorities were asked to look out for the truck, and it was spotted in Branford.

Branford first selectman Anthony DaRos had said earlier that police told him the truck was possibly carrying explosives. Quarry says state police didn't think there was explosives, just suspicious activity.
