Feds seeking armed bandit who fired gun at Long Island City bank

The FBI is seeking an armed bank robber who fired off his gun at a Queens bank Wednesday before fleeing in a black Lincoln Town Car.

The suspect demanded cash from a teller after brandishing a small silver revolver at the HSBC Bank at 2215 43rd Ave. in Long Island City, the FBI said Thursday.

He then pointed his gun into the air and fired a round into the ceiling. No one was injured, and the suspect left before getting any money.

The Lincoln Town Car he fled in was last seen arriving and leaving a block from the HSBC branch on 44th Avenue between 22nd and 23rd streets, authorities said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, about 35 years old, 5-foot 7 and weighing between 180 and 190 pounds. He wore a black tweed hat, a black jacket, dark grey scarf, dark pants and black gloves.

The FBI say he also may have robbed a Capital One Bank at 185 Broadway in Brooklyn on Oct. 18.

“We are asking for any livery drivers who may have been in the area to give us a call; we believe this could lead us to this dangerous suspect. Anytime a weapon is fired, the potential for injury and loss of life has to be taken seriously,” Supervisory Special Agent Barbara Daly said in a statement.
