Former NYC DJ busted in alleged attempt to have sex with a child
Former WNEW-FM disc jockey Dave Herman was arrested in the St. Croix airport Thursday for allegedly planning a sexual tryst with a seven-year-old girl, according to published reports.
Herman, 77, who has homes in Airmont, N.Y. and St. Croix, began an online correspondence with a person he believed was the mother of the girl in an attempt to arrange a sexual encounter with her child, reported Cliffviewpilot.com. But the correspondent was actually a person employed by the Computer Crimes Unit of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
After failing to arrange meetings in New York and New Jersey, Herman allegedly purchased plane tickets for the fictitious mother and child and went to the airport to meet them, where he instead encountered special agents from Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said the website.
According to davehermanmusicproject.com, Herman was on the air in NYC from 1970 to 1998.
