JetBlue pilot: Feds want him held without bail

Federal prosecutors argued Monday that the JetBlue pilot who suffered a midair meltdown triggering the emergency landing of a flight from JFK to Las Vegas last week should be kept locked up without bail.
Capt. Clayton Osbon, wearing a green collared shirt and khaki pants, did not speak during Monday's court appearance in Amarillo, Texas, except to say that he understood his rights and the charges against him that he interfered with a flight crew. He smiled and winked at his wife, Connye Osbon, sitting nearby.
Preliminary and detention hearings were scheduled for Thursday.
Witnesses aboard Flight 191 last Tuesday said in court documents that Osbon, a 12-year JetBlue veteran, began running through the cabin and screaming incoherently about religion and terrorists. Passengers wrestled him to the ground and restrained him as the flight made an emergency landing in Amarillo. Osbon was taken by helicopter to a hospital for medical evaluation.
Connye Osbon said on Sunday that the family was focused on her husband's recovery and thanked those on the flight for their professionalism after being put in "an awful situation."
